The program for the 2016 Hippodrome Festival of Silent Cinema has been announced. Happy to say I’m writing notes for two of the films showing, Dovzhenko’s EARTH (pictured) and Dupont’ VARIETE.

Also showing are the enchanting EXIT SMILING with Beatrice Lillie, Pola Negri in MANIA (her perpetual state, some would say), Chinese classic DAYBREAK with Li Lili, British spectacular THE WRECKER, PETER PAN and STELLA DALLAS, plus shorts with Buster Keaton, Laurel & Hardy and Anita Garvin & Marion Byron. Plus much more!

I haven’t bought my tickets yet because I’m a SLUGGARD. And you?

Nevertheless, I shall be acquiring said tickets and attending in my multitudes — I shall, of course, report back.
