Panchromatic Pandemic

I have a new piece at The Chiseler. Writing it kind of gave me palpitations, although I’d had too much coffee also. Never muse on the Coronavirus and the future of cinema on five cups.

Here.

Memories of seeing a circus indoors in what was, to my preschool self, a terrifyingly large space. It was a harmless old-fashioned auditorium, not even that huge, but the size alone was somehow too much for me. I remember my initial response was to cower and cover my ears, even though it wasn’t that noisy.

Almost as early I developed a deep aversion to horror movies and scary rides. I knew they were pretend, but also knew they were designed to scare the hell out of me. To this day I’m not sure I’ve seen any of Roger Corman’s Poe pictures.

  2. I’m phobic about noise, especially crowd noise, especially interior crowd noise. I can’t do busy pubs, and when music turns into noise because of chatter, I get panicky. So I’m kind of enjoying not feeling any pressure to go anywhere busy.
