Madness Takes Control

Among its many distortions of the facts, 1964’s SHOCK TREATMENT tries to suggest that faking madness is harder than faking expertise in horticulture, which it decidedly is not. Still, opening as it does with a decapitation by garden shears, we can assume the film’s purpose is not a realist one.
