These things are making more and more sense. Should I worry?

The old B&W “Li’l Abner” is a strange mess, rarely hitting the raucous tone of the strip and many of the actors seem to think they’re in other movies altogether. Even the sexy bad girl is pretty but dull — an Al Capp discovery? All that really sticks is a scene with Buster Keaton as Lonesome Polecat. Standing between two much taller actors, he silently upstages them by listening with the very focused look of a loyal dog.

I’m uncomfortably aware that the probable reason for the various attempts at filming Capp’s comics is his desire to get his wooden leg over pliant aspiring actresses.
