What’s the movie with the 6 foot Godzilla? I always assumed all those photos of Mr. Nakajima walking around in full costume squiring pretty girls were publicity shots, but if they’re from the Japanese / Godzilla equivalent of an American / Elvis movie, I want to see it!

  2. Not actually a movie, a TV ad for an accessory I presume every kaiju fan would crave: a fire lizard you can look in the eye.

A Nakajima backstage drama would be awesome, and I can’t believe something like it hasn’t been done. Even if you had to invent your own monster (Toho are notoriously controlling). What’s Gappa up to these days? Is he between rampages? Not much gainful work for triphibian monsters, I bet.

  3. Jeff Gee Says:

Well, around 5 years ago I pitched a rom-com to Michel Gondry, where the boy’s day job was being inside the monster suit at a faux-Toho and the girl was an inbetweener at a faux-Ghibli. It was not to be, but he drew a lizard head on a napkin later.

  4. Damn, he would have been a good pick for that kind of a thing.
