Skippy deserved a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nod for just about every film he made, most especially “The Awful Truth.”

Was it Skippy all the way through the Thin Mans? Rin Tin Tin, Lassie, Benji and even Roy Rogers’ horse Trigger eventually retired in favor of replacements, often their own progeny.

I think Skippy Jr. took over in the last movie too.

And though Skippy may not have won the Oscar, he had an award for best animal actor named after him, sort of: the Asta.
