Cast-Off Thousands

In case anyone is attempted to assume I manipulated or faked up the frame grabs which blatantly show the wrong actors’ faces and names combined — I didn’t. I just chose my moments carefully. The only one that is shockingly wrong in its original context is Peter Cushing, where evidently the chump cutting the trailer for SCREAM AND SCREAM AGAIN just didn’t know who he was.

You win some kind of abstract points, possibly redeemable in the afterlife, for correctly identifying the movies.

  1. I’ll take the low-hanging items: CONVOY, DEVIL’S RAIN, and DON’T BOTHER TO KNOCK.
Harry Andrews doesn’t get much respect in these environs– I grew up enjoying his late-empire near-villainy. Would I have remembered seeing him in close-up snapping a piece of celery ?– I think so.

OMEGA MAN, ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU (’70s version), THE NUTTY PROFESSOR, THE WEREWOLF, MYRA BRECKINRIDGE, ALEXANDER’S RAGTIME BAND, FROM HELL IT CAME …

Btw, that is a singularly graceless photo of Hoagy Carmichael. Looks like Lee Marvin, post-splash, in THE BIG HEAT.

  3. Yes, Hoagy was usually more prepossessing. Via Twitter, Paul Duane compared him here to the weird parrotting jail cell drunk in Twin Peaks.

  4. “Frank” is “The Naked Kiss”

  5. Yes! And vice versa.

ROCK’N’ROLL HIGH SCHOOL. A gag showed lab mice exploding (cue ASPCA disclaimer) when exposed to rock music. Later, at a concert, the giant mouse appeared and was ordered to put on earmuffs for safety reasons.

The costume looked expensive. Is there another Roger Corman film with a giant mouse in it?

  7. Hmm, I don’t know… maybe the costume was produced for someone else’s movie altogether…

  8. Tisa Farrow as Ian Mc Culloch as Peter West in Zombie.

and Journey to the 7th Planet!

  9. Well spotted. The first space voyage pic is, iirc, Destination Moon.
