More Blore

Blore #2: The Affronted Look. Immediately pre-seething.

Having introduced Marvelous Mary to the works of supporting comic Eric Blore, we now find ourselves feeding an obsession. Mary may never wish to see a non-Blore film the rest of her life.

So here’s a little appreciation of the Great Man, via The Chiseler, to help Mary and the rest of you along until your next fix.

    You mentioned a resemblance to a toad. Are you aware Eric Blore voiced J. Thaddeus Toad for Disney’s “The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad”?

    It’s a “package” film, half “Wind in the Willows” (which Disney spent years grappling with as a complete feature) and half “Legend of Sleepy Hollow”. The two segments were later split for theaters, television and video, but are presently together again on disc.

  2. Well, he’s perfect type-casting for Toad, voice-wise, even if you didn’t know what he looked like. A bit like Cliff Edwards as Jiminy Cricket.

    I’m trying to decide what my reaction would be if the first face I saw in Heaven was Eric Blore’s. I *think* I’d be fine with it.
