The Sunday Intertitle: Bologna

Here I am in Bologna, fulfilling an ambition.

Tomorrow I find out just how badly located my hotel is and figure out if I have to move and depend upon the kindness of strangers.

The Cinema Ritrovato specialises in rediscoveries, meaning I can gather enough material for a year’s worth of blogging. The above intertitle is from William Wellman’s BEGGARS OF LIFE, screening here but recently viewed at Bo’ness Hippodrome Festival of Silent Film with a fine accompaniment by the Dodge Brothers, so I might give that one a miss (though it would be fascinating to experience it with undoubtedly very different music by the renowned Donald Sosin…) Still, there’s a whole season of Wellmans, including rare silents and pre-code classics.
