Tupenny Blood

TWO PENCE MAGIC by Hans Richter is two minutes eighteen seconds of sheer majestic genius fired into your eyeholes.

  1. Something tells me both Orson Welles and Maya Deren know this film quite well.

  2. The visual pun or link is a well-known device (Richard Lester is particularly good at it) but I find the examples here particularly dazzling. There are examples in Un Chien Andalou too, which we know Welles saw (and attempted to parody in Hearts of Age).
