Quote of the Day #5
“Julie, my Julie.” It followed the woman down the four flights of the stair-well. It was the softest whisper, the strongest claim, that human lips can utter. It did not make her falter, lose a step. Her face was white when she came out into the daylight, that was all.
~ from The Bride Wore Black, by Cornell Woolrich.
Found this clip of Bernard Herrmann discussing his score for Francois Truffaut’s first Woolrich adaptation. Neat.

Very interesting remarks by Benny. The cue at the close is different from the relase version which breaks into The Wedding March full bore.

Say, you’re right! Wonder what Benny thought of that?

Herrmann sounds an awful lot like Joseph Cotten..Nice images and music!

You’re right, Herrmann and Cotten have the same sort of grate.

Have never seen Justine, but the combination of talents sounds intriguing, to say the least.

Will keep my eyes out for a copy. Was thinking of a doing a weekly series on late films or last films, there’s lots of underrated stuff out there. And i just got hold of Preston Sturges’s last film too…
