Congratulations to our BAFTA New Talent winners and nominees from Edinburgh College of Art. Last night, Nelson Carlos de los Santos picked up the prize for Best Experimental Film, with his mindblowing SHESAID HEWALKS HE SAID SHEWALKS, while Johanna Waegner got Best Documentary for the moving THE INNER SHAPE, and Anders Jendenfors won Best New Work with the splendid fly-on-the-wall CARLSSONS. Also nominated were Christina Alepi’s IDEATION ROUTES V.2 in the Experimental category, Julian Krubasik’s FLASHED in Drama, Ellie Lotan’s FELIX and Amy Rose’s KIRRAN AND THE HATCHMAKER in the Documentary strand (which consisted entirely of ECA films), and Jessica Cope’s THE OWL HOUSE in the Animation section.

Seems like I teach in a pretty good course!

  1. Changed days!
Take a bow Mr Cairns and the ECA Film Dept

  2. It’s been very good for the department: management seem to view us with a newfound respect.

  3. Nice post! Where did you get the caps from Nelson’s film from?

  4. Christopher Says:

    good on ya! :o)

  5. Hearty congratulations to everybody involved. I like this short clip:

  6. Yes, the animation in The Inner Shape is very effective, even if there’s less of it than planned. It was kind of a struggle for the movie to find its own inner shape, but Johanna really went at it and the results speak for themselves.

Got a DVD from Fiona R awhile back so I could catch up on the 3rd year films. Great work from everybody!
