Brooklynonga, darling?
It doesn’t really kick in until halfway…
Stop Press! Actor Steven McNicoll, currently playing half the roles in Irma Vep, A Penny Dreadful at the Lyceum, Edinburgh, informed me over a pint that the Ritz Bros are excellent dancers, and I find it’s true. Seems like three guys doing the same thing at the same time works better in dance than in comedy. An enjoyable scene from ARGENTINE NIGHTS, with George Reeves on whip.

Tasty. And the boys are nicely paired with the Andrews Sisters.

Yes, the Ritz-Andrews axis of evil. They’re very good together.

Having sat through a performance of “Rent” earlier this week, let me say that I’d gladly trade the whole thing in for a single chorus of “Brooklynonga.”

Actors used to phone in this kinda great spontaneous stuff over a bad connection back in the day!

There’s nothing spontaneous there, it’s choreographed and beautifully written.
RIP Irving Gertz, composer of countless Universal scifi monster movies. Obit in today’s Guardian.

well they make it look spontaneous..I love the way people glide into these numbers with ease..actors/comedians ,alot of them came from the Vaudeville and music halls which helps I suppose

Yes, one of the more enjoyable plotlines is the character/s forced to perform a spontaneous musical number, and then they come out with something beautifully planned like this.

That was my first encounter with the Ritz Bros. – thanks for making it a good one.
