Of course his friend has to ram a stake through him when his now vampiric friend returns to seduce him, resulting in one of those extremely symbolic moaning, gasping death scenes.

The actor in that part was Stephen Geoffreys, who went on to a role in James Foley’s film At Close Range, but then according to imdb swiftly went on a tangent into gay porn.
