The Son’s Room

Juan Luis Bunuel’s broom room, as seen in AU RENDEZ-VOUS DE LA MORT JOYEUSE, a restrained but intense paranormal drama, now under consideration over at The Auteurs’ Notebook in this week’s The Forgotten.

  1. Good review, David! Hopefully TCM will play this again one day so that others can see it. Dare we dream of a DVD release?

  2. Maybe! A Bunuel the Younger box set would be a desirable object, especially since the man himself is still around to contribute his thoughts.

Fascinating! I’ve only ever seen one movie directed by Bunuel Jr – THE GIRL IN RED BOOTS starring Catherine Deneuve, Ferndando Rey and Laura Betti. One of those fun, quirky little films that intrigue but don’t quite come off. This one sounds considerably more promising.

  4. I’m not sure this one comes off either, but it’s still promising. I do like the look of the Deneuve-Rey one, which maybe I’ll try and see next. Intrigue is good, even if it doesn’t wholly deliver.
