POSITIVELY the same monkey!
Josephine the monkey, pictured in Harold Lloyd’s THE KID BROTHER ~
~ is the same little creature featured in Buster Keaton’s THE CAMERAMAN.
I am indebted to Paul Merton’s Silent Comedy, a fine book of comic history (better than his TV film shows), for this valuable information.

A good monkey is hard to find, then and since. God Bless Josephine, wherever she is in monkey heaven. Paved the way for Cheeta and his stellar career, despite no union.

Happy New Year to all the Shadowplayers and all the monkeys. God bless us, every one.

I got Me Cheeta for Christmas, he’s had some things to say about macquaques (sp?) and also Sexy Rexy so far.

A fine memoir! My friend Lawrie did a film with Rex and his wife, Lilli Taylor, and found them a very foul-mouthed pair. Perhaps Cheeta didn’t mind that so much.

I think it’s Lilli Palmer we’re talkin’ here, but I’m sure y’all know that.

Damn, I’m always mixing those two up. Just the names, not the actresses.

That’s not too bad, David. While I glanced at TCM, I once mistook Nancy Carroll for Janet Gaynor, and another time Janet Gaynor for Sylvia Sidney.

Well, they’ve all got prominent bone structure. DIFFERENT bone structure, but still… When you consider what’s involved, it’s amazing we’re all so good at keeping things straight.
