Train of Events

strangersStranglers?

A reminder that Film Club this week falls on a Wednesday, so it coincides with Hitchcock Year’s look at STRANGERS ON A TRAIN. Which means I better get busy and watch the thing, and write something about it. I will, but only if you promise to join me on Wed.

  1. David, you have my promise that I will join you on Wednesday. I’ve already started watching it, I’m up to where Guy and his bespectacled, witchy wife are bickering in the music store. I’m glad we have until Wednesday, that’ll give me more time to formulate.

Always ready to take the “Train”..Its a biggie with me..the french audio track is a really good one for this film..THe french dubbing always seems to match with the actors on most dvds I see..comes off looking and sounding more natural than others..especially italian..

  3. I remember Stephen Fry saying that the Italians don’t get irony and understatement, so that when the TV show Dallas was dubbed, JR had a big booming voice, to make him seem “powerful.” I shudder to think what Robert Walker would sound like in Italian.

  4. a friend of mine assures me that Alf in Turkish is divine (he refuses to watch it in the original language, for fear that it will spoil his first impression)

I’ll definitely be here for the Club as well–gonna watch the movie today!

  5. Hmm, makes sense of Coleridge’s “Where Alf the sacred river ran…” which always struck me as a funny name for a river.
